Bruce Muir
LEVIATHANS
British Columbia native Bruce Muir has spent months in the wilderness, both at land and sea, on Canada’s West Coast. His work reflects this intimacy with his subjects.
Muir grew up on the shores of Vancouver Island’s Georgia Strait. On one solitary fishing trip at sea, a killer whale surfaced inches away from his boat, almost knocking him into the freezing water. Staring at the water gleaming off the whale’s body, he felt a strange sense of peace. His fascination with whales began that day, and he went on to become a coastal ecologist and avid outdoorsman.
